A delegation from Baqir al-Olum University, sent by the Islamic Culture and Communications Organization as a cultural dialogue delegation to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to discuss various cultural and social commonalities between the two countries.
According to a report by Baqir al-Olum University’s public relations department, Mohammad Ali Eskandari, the esteemed ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tashkent, welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of Uzbekistan’s current cultural, historical, and social conditions. He highlighted Iran’s capabilities in science and knowledge, as well as its academic advancements, as a foundation for connections with such countries.
He stated, “Uzbekistan’s primary concern in recent years has been achieving comprehensive development, especially in the economic realm. Therefore, they welcome any cooperation that leads to further progress in Uzbekistan. The Uzbek people have great respect for Iranians and consider their shared historical bonds as integral components of their identity and culture.”
Referring to the role of women in Uzbek society, Eskandari said, “Women play a very influential role in Uzbek society. In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the adoption of hijab, marriage, and childbirth among Uzbek women. The government has welcomed this trend and provides various facilities to young people to support families and promote marriage and childbirth.”
In conclusion, the Iranian ambassador urged the members of the Baqir al-Olum University delegation to engage in in-depth academic discussions with their academic counterparts and figures, thereby fostering trust and paving the way for serious academic and scientific collaborations.
