Beyond Confrontation: An Evolutionary View of Eastern and Western Law

The First International Summit on Human Rights: An Eastern Approach

The East excels in metaphysics, while the West excels in instrumental and regulatory rationality. We must adopt an evolutionary, not a confrontational, perspective. The East’s theological superiority does not necessarily mean its realized legal history is superior. To reconstruct a global legal system, we need an evolutionary synthesis of Eastern and Western heritage to achieve a comprehensive and effective framework.
