A New Vision: The Need for “Multi-Layered Human Rights”

To overcome the legitimacy crisis of human rights, we need philosophical dialogue among civilizations. Islamic philosophy and jurisprudence have the capacity to propose “multi-layered human rights” based on a gradational (Tashkiki) perspective. The dominance of the Western view in recent events (e.g., Gaza) shows that humanity is not at the center of this discourse. Islamic thought, by viewing humans as “divine beings,” can lay the foundation for a new form of human rights.
